Two people were killed and four others were critically injured after a passenger vehicle plunged an estimated 200 to 300 feet into a gorge at Pokhari Ghat on the Manchar-Bhimashankar route in Pune district on Wednesday. The injured were first taken to Manchar Sub-District Hospital, where doctors provided emergency treatment before shifting the four critically injured patients to private hospitals in Pune for further care.
The deceased were identified as driver Dnyaneshwar Govind Gawari, 41, of Dhagewadi in Kondhwalwad, Ambegaon taluka, and Kalawati Gajanan Bhojne of Bhojnewadi, Shinoli, according to the report. The four seriously injured passengers were identified as Kanchan Sandeep Kengle, 35, of Nandurkichi Wadi in Jambhori; Shivaji Maruti Damse, 60, of Gohe Khurd; Yogesh Deoram Bhange, 60, of Tambe in Junnar taluka; and Subhadra Pramod Kengle, 40, of Nandurkichi Wadi in Jambhori.
The injured were admitted to Manchar Sub-District Hospital after the accident, and treatment began under the direction of medical superintendent Dr Shivajirao Jadhav. Doctors Ramprasad Gaikar, Chetan Bhagwat, Sahil Take, Snehal B รombले, Anuja Shingade and Hemant Chikhale were part of the medical team that treated the patients, the report said.
After initial treatment, the four patients whose condition was described as serious were transferred to private hospitals in Pune for advanced medical care. Arrangements were made for their transfer, and coordination was carried out with doctors at the receiving hospitals regarding their treatment.
Pune Zilla Parishad vice-president Vivek Walse Patil visited the hospital and took information about the injured patients’ condition. Prakash Gholap, Pravin Pardhi and Ramdas Walse-Patil also assisted the injured and helped coordinate medical arrangements. Additional support was arranged for the patients and their relatives.
Relatives of the injured gathered in large numbers at the hospital after the accident, creating a sombre atmosphere on the premises. The report did not provide details about the cause of the vehicle leaving the road or any further official findings on the accident.
