Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a monumental stride in India’s infrastructural development on Monday by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 114 National Highway projects across the nation, amounting to an impressive Rs 1 lakh crore.
Among the significant endeavours is the inauguration of the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, a project valued at Rs 4,100 crore. The Dwarka Expressway, spanning 29km and featuring eight lanes, is a ground-breaking urban expressway strategically constructed to enhance traffic flow and alleviate congestion between Delhi and Gurugram on NH48. With 18.9km falling within Haryana and the remaining 10.1km in Delhi, this expressway is a pivotal component of the Centre’s Rs 60,000 crore highway development plan in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Haryana section, built at an approximate cost of Rs 4,100 crore, comprises two crucial packages: the 10.2-km stretch from Delhi-Haryana Border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB) and the 8.7-km from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula. This extensive project not only improves connectivity to the IGI Airport in Delhi but also streamlines access to the Gurugram Bypass. Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated several other key projects during the event, including the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) – Package 3 in Delhi, three packages of the Lucknow Ring Road in Uttar Pradesh, the Anandapuram-Pendurthi-Anakapalli section of NH16 in Andhra Pradesh, the Kiratpur to Nerchowk section of NH-21 in Himachal Pradesh, and the Dobaspet-Heskote section in Karnataka. Additionally, 42 projects valued at Rs 20,500 crore in various states were inaugurated. The foundation stone for multiple National Highway projects was laid, encompassing the Bengaluru-Kadappa-Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh, the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur Section of NH-748A in Karnataka, the Shamli-Ambala Highway in Haryana, and the Amritsar-Bathinda corridor in Punjab. The event, attended by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, marks a significant leap forward in bolstering India’s transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth.
