Patna Traffic Advisory: Marathon Curbs Hit Ganga Path, Atal Path

Patna traffic restrictions will be in force on parts of J P Ganga Path and Atal Path from 4am to 9am on Sunday, October 25, as the city hosts the SBI Green Marathon. The five-hour traffic plan includes restricted road stretches, regulated one-way movement, diversions and dedicated parking for participants at Gandhi Maidan.

The marathon will begin at Gate No. 1 of Gandhi Maidan. Participants will move towards Children’s Park, the commissioner’s office, Marine Drive, LCT Ghat and Digha Golambar before proceeding along Atal Path towards the Shivpuri area. After a U-turn, the route will bring them back to Gandhi Maidan, where the event will finish near Gate No. 1.

According to the traffic plan issued by the Patna Traffic Police, vehicular movement on the southern flank of J P Ganga Path between the commissioner’s office and Digha Golambar will be restricted during the event. The eastern flank of Atal Path from Digha Golambar towards Shivpuri will also remain restricted while marathon participants use the route.

Traffic will continue on the available lanes under a regulated one-way arrangement. Vehicles travelling from the commissioner’s office towards Digha Golambar will be allowed to use the northern lane. Vehicles moving from Digha Golambar towards Atal Path will use the western lane. Motorists have been instructed to follow directions from traffic personnel deployed along the affected stretches and at diversion points.

Traffic SP Sagar Kumar Jha advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and comply with instructions issued on the route. The traffic police has also appealed to commuters to avoid the affected sections wherever possible during the marathon hours and use alternative routes.

The restrictions are intended to separate moving vehicles from marathon participants while keeping traffic flowing on the lanes that remain open. The arrangements cover the Ganga Path and Atal Path corridors, which connect key areas along the marathon route and are expected to experience regulated movement during the event.

Special parking arrangements have been made inside Gandhi Maidan for vehicles belonging to marathon participants. The parking provision is intended to keep event-related vehicles away from the restricted road sections and support access to the starting and finishing point at Gate No. 1.

The traffic plan will remain in effect from 4am until 9am on October 25. Commuters using the commissioner’s office–Digha Golambar stretch, Atal Path and the Shivpuri area during this period will need to follow on-ground traffic directions and the designated lane arrangements.
