One Karnataka Mobility App Adds Tickets, Complaints and WhatsApp Booking

Subheadline: The platform brings KSRTC, NWKRTC, KKRTC and BMTC services together, while WhatsApp ticketing is currently available for three corporations.

The Karnataka government has launched the One Karnataka Mobility app, a unified digital platform intended to bring ticketing and passenger-service functions for the state’s four road transport corporations onto a single system. The platform was launched in Bengaluru on September 11 by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at an event held at Vidhana Soudha to mark 100 days of the new government.

The updated application, described as One Karnataka Mobility and KSRTC Avatar 2.0, covers the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) and Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). According to the information released about the launch, the app is designed to consolidate ticket booking, passenger complaints and related transport services on one digital platform.

The application includes a secure login system for passenger identification. Users will be able to view details of previous bookings and manage their transactions through the platform. It will also allow passengers to submit complaints related to all four transport corporations through a common interface, check the status of those complaints and track the progress of their resolution.

The government has said the platform will be expanded with digital monthly passes. The planned facility is expected to support online booking, distribution and management of bus passes. The app is also intended to support QR-code-based digital verification, although the information released at the launch did not provide a date for when those features will become operational.

WhatsApp ticket booking has been enabled for KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC buses. Passengers can begin the booking process by sending a message to 6364940880 on WhatsApp. The service accepts payments through the Unified Payments Interface, credit cards, debit cards and wallets, according to KSRTC officials cited in the launch information.

After a successful payment, the booking confirmation and electronic ticket will be sent to the passenger through WhatsApp and email. Tickets booked through WhatsApp can also be cancelled through the same channel. The cancellation process requires passengers to select the ticket-cancellation option and enter the PNR number, mobile number and password.

The launch brings several passenger-facing functions together, but the current announcement distinguishes between services available immediately and features planned for a later stage. WhatsApp booking is presently specified for KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC, while the unified app is described as covering all four transport corporations. Further details on the rollout of digital monthly passes and QR-code verification were not provided in the report.
