NSEIX Extends Trading Hours to 23.5 Hours From GIFT City

NSE International Exchange (NSEIX) has extended its trading hours to 23 hours and 30 minutes a day from its GIFT City platform in Gujarat, giving international investors access to the exchange across Asian, European and American market hours.

The revised schedule took effect on November 2, 2026, with trading beginning at 3:15 am Indian Standard Time and ending at 2:45 am the following day. The exchange said the nearly continuous window is intended to give investors and trading participants greater flexibility to respond to developments in international markets.

NSEIX said the extended schedule covers major global trading hours and is designed to support participants managing market exposure across different time zones. The initiative is also intended to strengthen GIFT City’s role as an international financial centre connecting India with global capital markets.

The exchange described the move as a step towards creating a continuous trading environment for international market participants. “With this launch, NSEIX sets a new global benchmark to provide continuous market for nearly 24/5 hours to the market participants,” it said in a statement.

V. Balasubramaniam, managing director and chief executive officer of NSEIX, said the extension was an important milestone in creating a globally accessible marketplace from GIFT City. He said the expanded access would allow participants to trade across all time zones and strengthen GIFT City’s connectivity with global financial markets.

NSEIX said the longer trading window is supported by technology and operational arrangements intended to manage extended market operations. According to the exchange, system maintenance and updates can be completed within three minutes between sessions and in less than 15 minutes at the end of the trading day.

NSEIX operates as an international multi-asset exchange in GIFT City and was established on June 5, 2017. It is recognised by the International Financial Services Centres Authority, the regulatory authority for India’s international financial services centres.

The exchange offers Indian single-stock derivatives, index derivatives, currency derivatives, depository receipts and global stocks. Its nearly 24-hour schedule is aimed at improving access to these products for participants operating in different international markets.

The change adds a major operating capability to GIFT City’s financial-market infrastructure, although the exchange has not disclosed transaction or participation figures linked to the new timetable in the statement. NSEIX said it would continue expanding international market access and developing market infrastructure in line with the requirements of global participants.
