Noida police are maintaining heightened checks at Delhi-facing borders after more than 5,000 vehicles travelling from Noida towards Delhi were checked in connection with a protest at Jantar Mantar, while restrictions under Section 163 remain in force across Gautam Buddh Nagar until October 20, Navbharat Times reported.
Police personnel have been deployed at several points adjoining Delhi, including the Chilla border, Kalindi Kunj, Jhundpura and Darshan Chowki. Vehicles are being stopped and checked before being allowed to proceed. The enforcement is expected to continue as protest organisers have indicated that their movement towards Jantar Mantar would continue.
According to the report, leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party, including Abhijit Dipke and other office-bearers, have said that the protest will continue until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns. The planned movement towards Jantar Mantar prompted the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate Police to remain on alert.
The checks caused traffic congestion at several locations in Noida on Saturday. The report said the direct effect of the protest was not visible across Noida, but movement towards Delhi was affected by the policing arrangements. Authorities had planned to stop people travelling from Noida to Delhi and, where necessary, take them into custody.
Traffic restrictions were also reported at the Chilla border, where Delhi Police installed barricades and closed two lanes. With only one lane remaining operational, commuters faced delays and difficulty crossing into Delhi. The arrangement illustrates how event-related security measures at a border crossing can quickly affect routine movement between the two cities, particularly where traffic is concentrated through limited road capacity.
The police response has also extended beyond physical checkpoints. Two teams were deployed to monitor information and activities linked to the protest on social media. The report further said that police were keeping watch on schools, colleges, universities and paying guest accommodation in the district as part of the broader alert.
The restrictions under Section 163 are scheduled to remain in effect in Gautam Buddh Nagar until October 20, according to the report. No further details on the specific order, its issuing authority or exemptions for commuters were provided in the supplied material. Police checks and deployment at the Delhi border are expected to continue as the planned protest movement develops.
