Noida Authority is planning to widen the Pushta Road between sectors 135 and 150 into an 11-km, four-lane route that will create a new link towards Noida International Airport and help reduce pressure on the Noida Expressway. The project is expected to cost around ₹300 crore.
According to Noida Authority officials, the road will connect to the Yamuna Expressway through a rotary, providing an alternative route for traffic travelling between Delhi, Noida and the airport. The proposed connection is expected to bring the airport’s distance from this route to about 30 kilometres.
The road expansion is also being planned alongside strengthening work on the embankment. Depending on site requirements, walls measuring 1.5 metres, two metres or 2.5 metres in height will be built along the road. The structure is intended to reinforce the embankment and protect it from water pressure during periods of high water levels in the Yamuna or flooding.
The Irrigation Department had suggested three options for strengthening the embankment: stone pitching, a reinforced cement concrete wall and a draft wall. The Noida Authority has selected the draft wall option, according to the report. The wall is expected to provide additional structural support while helping protect the road and nearby areas during flood conditions.
The detailed project report is now expected to be prepared by the Irrigation Department within about 15 days. After the DPR is submitted, the proposal will be placed before the Noida Authority board for consideration. The report does not specify a construction start date or completion deadline.
The proposed route is also intended to improve access for workers and traffic linked to the information technology and industrial sectors located near the Pushta Road. Vehicles travelling from Delhi towards the airport, Agra, Mathura and Lucknow could use the new connection to reach the Yamuna Expressway without relying entirely on the Noida Expressway.
The project’s stated objective is therefore broader than airport access. It combines road widening, an alternative east-west connection and embankment reinforcement along the Yamuna corridor. If approved, the route would add another connection between Noida’s southern sectors and the wider expressway network. The immediate next step is the preparation of the detailed project report, followed by consideration of the proposal by the Noida Authority board.
