The pivotal land lease agreement, inked with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), lays the foundation for a transformative project located near Pudimadaka village in the Visakhapatnam district. Termed the ‘Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub,’ this initiative aims to cultivate a world-class ecosystem for cutting-edge technologies in the realm of new energy. The project envisions the establishment of facilities for electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, ancillary industries, start-up incubation, testing facilities, and the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol. Central to the project is the construction of India’s largest green hydrogen production facility, boasting a capacity of 1200 tonnes per day (TPD). This facility will serve as a cornerstone for the production of derivatives, catering primarily to diverse export markets.

NTPC, as India’s largest power utility, brings its substantial expertise in power generation to the forefront, boasting a total installed capacity of 74 gigawatts (GW), inclusive of joint ventures and subsidiaries. NGEL, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, currently operates with an impressive operational capacity exceeding 3.4 GW, with an additional 26 GW in the pipeline, including 7 GW currently under implementation. This strategic collaboration signifies a substantial leap towards advancing India’s green energy agenda, aligning with global trends towards sustainability and clean energy solutions. The Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub not only reinforces India’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies but also positions the country as a key player in the global green hydrogen landscape. As the nation progresses towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy future, collaborations of this nature play a pivotal role in driving technological advancements and fostering a conducive environment for green energy initiatives. The NGEL’s partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Government marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a frontrunner in the green energy revolution.
