NDMC Revises Smart Parking Plan in Delhi

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has extended the bidding deadline for its Intelligent Integrated Parking Management System (IIPMS) in Lutyens’ Delhi, now set for May 21, 2025, due to significant revisions in the project scope.

These changes include the addition of a new multilevel parking facility at Sarojini Nagar, increasing the total number of parking sites from 154 to 155 and expanding capacity from 14,478 to 15,158 spaces.

The IIPMS aims to modernize parking infrastructure by integrating advanced technologies such as real-time occupancy tracking, online payments, and FASTag-based fee collection. The selected agency will be responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining the system for a decade, with a three-month period allocated for setup.

Currently, NDMC manages parking through temporary arrangements involving staff from various departments, leading to operational inefficiencies and financial losses. The new system is expected to streamline operations, enhance user experience, and contribute to the city’s sustainability goals by reducing congestion and promoting digital transactions.
