An unfinished stretch of Muppas Road near Rajapushpa Provincia in Narsingi, Hyderabad, is disrupting daily travel as commuters contend with loose gravel, dust, uneven surfaces and waterlogging, residents said. A civic engineering official said an inspection would be conducted and pending roadwork taken up.
The road carries a steady flow of two-wheelers, autorickshaws and cars, but large portions of the stretch reportedly do not have a proper surface. Construction activity and loose soil along the road add to the dust, with passing vehicles sending clouds into the air and making conditions difficult for pedestrians and motorists.
Residents said the condition worsens during rains, when uneven sections collect water and become muddy. “The uneven portions of the road collect water and turn into muddy stretches. The absence of a proper, even road also makes it difficult for two-wheelers to maintain balance,” said Durgesh Singh, a pan shop owner near the road.
The lack of pedestrian space is another concern. Suraj Prabhu, who frequently uses the road, said pedestrians are forced to share the rough stretch with vehicles moving in both directions. “There is hardly any space for pedestrians. We have to walk on the same stretch where vehicles are coming from both sides, and it becomes really difficult when traffic increases in the evening,” he said.
Residents said dust becomes particularly troublesome during peak traffic hours and that people walking along the road have to negotiate gravel and rough edges while vehicles pass close by. They also raised concerns that congestion could increase if more commercial activity comes up along the road without improvements to its width and surface.
“The road is already narrow and traffic is difficult to manage. If more commercial activity comes up here, the congestion will only increase unless the road is widened first,” another resident said.
An executive engineer from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation’s engineering wing said the area had seen infrastructure development over the past year, while the roads were yet to be completely laid. The official said a team would be sent to inspect the situation and take up the pending work.
Residents have urged the civic authorities to complete the road surface and improve the stretch before monsoon-related waterlogging and increasing traffic make movement more difficult. The next stated step is the engineering team’s inspection of Muppas Road.
