Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Pink Line is scheduled to be inaugurated on November 13, with public services expected to begin two days later on November 15, according to official sources cited by Prajavani. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the 7.5-kilometre stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere on Bannerghatta Road before travelling to Mysuru for a public programme.
The inauguration event is expected to be held on Bannerghatta Road, although the venue had not been finalised when the report was published. The Prime Minister is also expected to travel on the Metro after launching the line, according to the report.
The Pink Line will connect Kalena Agrahara with Tavarekere, adding a new operational section to Bengaluru’s expanding rapid-transit network. The stretch is significant for the Bannerghatta Road corridor, where road traffic and commuting demand have placed sustained pressure on surface transport.
The November 13 inauguration date was confirmed in a post on X by Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament representing Bengaluru South, although he did not share further details. The date was also reported by Prajavani based on information from official sources on Monday.
A Metro official told the publication that regular public operations would begin on November 15 rather than on the inauguration day. This two-day gap means the launch event and the start of passenger services are currently planned as separate milestones.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is planning to operate five to six trains on the route, according to a senior official cited in the report. During peak periods, trains are expected to run at intervals of six minutes, while the planned frequency during other periods is 10 minutes.
The proposed service pattern will determine the initial carrying capacity and waiting times for passengers using the new section. However, the report does not provide details on fares, station-wise schedules, interchange arrangements or the exact stations that will be operational when passenger services begin.
The Pink Line’s opening will therefore be closely linked to the finalisation of the inauguration venue, the release of the public timetable and operational instructions from BMRCL. The next confirmed milestones are the proposed November 13 inauguration and the planned start of public services on November 15.
