Mumbai Marathon 2026 Gets Two Overnight Special Local Trains

Central Railway will operate two special local trains early on 4 October to help participants reach the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2026 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. The services will run from Kalyan on the main line and Panvel on the Harbour line, reaching CSMT at 4 am.

The Kalyan–CSMT special local will depart from Kalyan at 2.30 am. The Panvel–CSMT service will leave Panvel at 2.40 am. According to the announcement reported by Loksatta, both trains will stop at all stations on their respective routes.

The services have been arranged for participants travelling to the marathon being held in memory of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon of the Indian Air Force. Sekhon was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously for his role during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

The early-morning services are intended to address the travel needs of runners who must reach central Mumbai before the event begins. Participants travelling from the Kalyan side will have an overnight option on the Central Railway main line, while those approaching from Navi Mumbai and the Harbour line will be able to board at Panvel.

The trains’ all-station stopping pattern will provide access to passengers from stations along both routes. Central Railway has not provided further details in the supplied announcement on the number of coaches, return services, ticketing arrangements or any changes to regular local train operations.

The two services are scheduled to reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 4 am on 4 October, ahead of the marathon. Participants have been advised through the railway announcement to use the special services for their early-morning journey to the event venue.
