Mumbai Police have deployed more than 17,000 personnel across the city for Ganeshotsav 2026, with additional arrangements planned for crowded routes, sensitive locations and Ganesh idol immersion days.
A senior Mumbai Police official said the deployment includes at least seven Additional Commissioners of Police, 37 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 52 Assistant Commissioners of Police. Around 2,650 police officers and 14,150 police personnel have also been assigned during the festival period.
The arrangements include units from the State Reserve Police Force, Quick Response Teams, Riot Control Teams and Home Guards. Police have also increased security at important locations across Mumbai as large numbers of residents and devotees are expected to visit public celebrations and Ganesh pandals.
Separate security and crowd-management plans have been prepared for the days of idol immersion, when large gatherings are expected across the city. Additional personnel will be deployed to manage security and regulate crowd movement during the immersion process, the official said.
Mumbai Police have also been conducting flag marches along sensitive routes in parts of the city. Officials said traffic arrangements have been planned for areas likely to experience increased movement during the festival and on key immersion days.
The police have appealed to residents to remain calm, exercise restraint in crowded areas and cooperate with personnel deployed for security and traffic management. Citizens have also been asked to follow instructions issued at public locations and during immersion-related movements.

The arrangements will remain focused on maintaining public peace and ensuring safe movement across the city during Ganeshotsav 2026.
