The future of airport travel in India will take centre stage at the upcoming Inter Passenger Terminal Show (IPTS) 2025, where Digi Yatra, the government-backed digital travel initiative, is set to headline discussions on seamless and secure passenger experiences.
Held on 11–12 June 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, IPTS 2025 will unite stakeholders from across India’s rapidly growing aviation ecosystem—including airport operators, infrastructure experts, and technology providers—to explore how terminals can evolve into smart, sustainable, and passenger-centric spaces. As an official event partner, Digi Yatra will lead key sessions focused on integrating contactless biometric solutions into everyday airport operations. On Day 1, Digi Yatra Foundation CEO will host a masterclass titled “Igniting the Spark for Seamless Process”, spotlighting how the platform uses facial authentication built on Privacy by Design and Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) to simplify and secure passenger journeys.
Launched in 2022, the Digi Yatra platform has already made a significant impact, now operational at 24 airports across India. With over 13 million app downloads and more than 56 million passenger verifications, the system has drastically cut waiting times while enhancing airport efficiency. Its privacy-first approach ensures passengers remain in control of their personal data while benefiting from faster, paperless travel.According to the Digi Yatra Foundation, the masterclass will also serve as a forum to encourage collaboration among airport authorities, aviation startups, and government agencies. The goal is to fast-track digital integration in line with India’s ambitions to modernise its airport infrastructure and prepare for rising demand.
India’s civil aviation sector is on track for exponential growth, with passenger traffic expected to reach 485 million by FY27, growing at a CAGR of 8–9%. To meet this challenge, over ₹60,000 crore has been allocated for airport development between 2025 and 2027, with new terminals and digital upgrades high on the agenda. The Navi Mumbai International Airport, along with other key infrastructure developers, is backing IPTS 2025 as a knowledge-sharing and networking hub. The event will feature VIP panels, technology showcases, and masterclasses focusing on smart infrastructure, renewable energy integration, climate-conscious design, and passenger-focused innovation.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Digi Yatra Foundation noted, “India’s aviation sector is entering a new era where convenience, efficiency, and data security must work hand in hand. Through IPTS 2025, we aim to catalyse this transformation and enable airports to meet global standards while serving local needs.”
Event organiser Media Fusion, led by its Managing Director, described IPTS as a platform for co-creation. “India’s aviation momentum is unprecedented. IPTS 2025 is designed to harness this growth by connecting global innovators with Indian expertise to build a new generation of smart, inclusive terminals,” the organiser said.
Digi Yatra’s role at IPTS 2025 reflects its growing influence in shaping how technology can transform India’s airport experience. Its emphasis on digital identity, passenger autonomy, and sustainable infrastructure aligns with the broader industry’s commitment to inclusive and future-ready air travel.
