Among all locations, Juhu Beach generated the largest share of collected waste, accounting for approximately 1,825 metric tonnes during the operation. The volume reflects the twin pressures of monsoon currents and one of Mumbai’s highest visitor footfalls, making continuous waste management essential for preserving both ecological health and recreational use. Urban environmental experts note that beach waste cleanup has become a critical component of climate adaptation for coastal cities. Accumulated marine debris not only degrades natural habitats but can also obstruct stormwater outlets, contribute to localised flooding and affect water quality.
