MSRTC NCMC Card Helplines Open as Passenger Issues Rise

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has launched two helplines to help passengers resolve problems related to the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which the corporation made mandatory from September 1 for certain concessionary journeys. The helplines will handle issues involving card activation, top-ups, balance checks and other technical difficulties.

Passengers can contact the MSRTC’s NCMC support service through 022 42022190 and 022 69787303. The service has been started through NSDL Payments Bank, which is providing technical support for the card system.

The move follows complaints from passengers who have faced difficulties while activating their cards, adding money, checking available balances and using the cards for travel. MSRTC said the helplines were intended to provide immediate assistance as the NCMC system expands across its bus network.

The NCMC card is being used for concessionary tickets issued to women and senior citizens between 65 and 75 years of age travelling on MSRTC buses. The corporation has also been making the card available to passengers travelling without concessions. Registration and distribution are under way at bus stations and depots across Maharashtra.

According to MSRTC, more than 1.11 crore passengers have registered for NCMC cards so far. The scale of registration means that technical problems with activation, recharging or balance verification can affect a substantial number of users, particularly passengers who depend on concessionary fares.

The corporation has said that the process of making NCMC cards mandatory for women and senior citizens receiving concessions is under way. As the requirement expands, passengers may need assistance with both the initial activation of cards and the subsequent loading or verification of funds.

MSRTC has asked passengers to use the official helplines for NCMC-related complaints rather than rely on unverified information circulating on social media. The corporation’s advice covers problems related to card use, recharge, activation and balance enquiries.

The launch of the helplines comes as MSRTC continues the registration and distribution of NCMC cards at its bus stations and depots. The corporation has not provided a separate timeline in the announcement for resolving individual complaints, but has directed passengers with technical issues to contact the two support numbers.
