Captain Polyplast has secured a ₹47-crore order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) to install 2,000 solar water pumping systems at identified farmer locations across Maharashtra under the PM-KUSUM B scheme.
The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of off-grid direct-current solar photovoltaic water pumping systems. The pumps are intended to support irrigation at participating farm sites while expanding the use of solar energy in agricultural water supply.
The order gives Captain Polyplast an additional project in its engineering, procurement and construction business and adds to its near-term order book. The company, which makes micro-irrigation solutions and also undertakes solar EPC projects, said it had previously executed orders for MSEDCL and would use that experience to scale up operations in the State.
Ritesh Khichadia, Whole Time Director of Captain Polyplast, said the company was equipped to execute the order within the stipulated timelines. “Solar water pumping is a high-priority segment under the PM-KUSUM scheme, and we have been steadily building our capabilities to capture opportunities of this scale,” he said.
The installation programme is part of wider government efforts to expand solar-powered irrigation and reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources for agriculture. Under the latest award, the systems will be installed at farmer locations identified for the project, although the supplied announcement does not specify the district-wise allocation, installation schedule or the individual capacity of the pumps.
For MSEDCL, the order adds another solar irrigation project to its work under PM-KUSUM B, which focuses on off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems. For Captain Polyplast, the award strengthens its presence in government-led renewable-energy and irrigation programmes and provides a larger implementation pipeline for its EPC operations.
The company said favourable policy support under PM-KUSUM and a growing pipeline of government tenders could create further opportunities in the segment. It also pointed to its distribution network, earlier MSEDCL work and expanding project pipeline as operational support for the new contract.
The next steps are the execution of the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning work at the identified farmer sites. The company has said it will deliver the project within the stipulated timelines.
