Moradabad IMFL Unit Restarts with Rs 70 Crore Capacity Boost

The defunct Moradabad IMFL unit has restarted commercial operations, adding an initial annual capacity of 60 lakh cases to Uttar Pradesh’s Indian-made foreign liquor manufacturing base after Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited took over the facility for Rs 70 crore.

The bottling plant began operations on Monday following its revival by Allied Blenders. The unit was previously operated by National Industrial Corporation Limited, but had remained shut before the takeover and restart.

Allied Blenders said the Moradabad facility will initially produce up to 60 lakh cases of Indian-made foreign liquor annually. The company plans to use the plant over time to expand its production of extra neutral alcohol, or ENA, which is a key input in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages.

The proposed ENA expansion is intended to reduce the company’s reliance on external channel partners and give it greater control over its supply chain. The company described the move as part of its backward-integration strategy, linking production capacity more closely with the inputs required for its operations.

Amar Sinha, managing director of Allied Blenders and Distillers, said the start of operations would strengthen the company’s presence in Uttar Pradesh and support its backward-integration plans. He also attributed the investment decision to the state’s excise policy and regulatory framework, which he said had helped improve investor confidence and encouraged long-term investments.

The restart places the Moradabad plant within Uttar Pradesh’s wider industrial and regulatory ecosystem for IMFL manufacturing. While the company has disclosed the plant’s initial production capacity and the value of the acquisition, the report does not specify the number of direct jobs expected from the restart, the plant’s operating shifts or the timeline for the proposed ENA expansion.

The facility’s revival also marks a shift from an idle industrial asset to an operating manufacturing site. Allied Blenders acquired the plant in January 2026, and its commercial restart now creates additional bottling capacity for the company in the state.

The next stage will involve scaling the Moradabad facility’s operations and assessing the planned ENA expansion. The company has not provided a detailed public schedule for that expansion in the information available.
