Mogra Nala Bridge Closure Begins as BMC Starts Oshiwara Rebuild

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will demolish and rebuild the dilapidated Mogra Nala bridge in Oshiwara, prompting a complete traffic closure and diversions that will remain in force until May 31, 2027. The bridge connects SAB TV Road with Link Road along Pramod Navalkar Marg.

The Mumbai Traffic Police issued a temporary notification announcing that the bridge would be closed to vehicular traffic in both directions from the date of issuance. The work will be carried out by the BMC’s K/East Ward at the existing location.

The closure falls under the jurisdiction of the Oshiwara Traffic Division. According to the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Western Suburbs, Ajit Borhade, all types of vehicles will be prohibited from using the bridge while demolition and reconstruction are under way.

The traffic restrictions have been introduced to protect road users and manage congestion around the construction zone. The bridge is an important connection between the Lokhandwala Complex side of Oshiwara and New Link Road, meaning motorists will need to use designated routes for movements across the affected stretch.

For light vehicles travelling southbound on SAB TV Road, motorists coming from Lokhandwala Complex Road on the southbound carriageway of SAB TV Road, or Pramod Navalkar Marg, must take a left turn followed by a right turn at Hotel Empire. They can then continue via Hotel Kalinga and New Link Road to reach their destinations.

Light vehicles travelling northbound on New Link Road must take a left turn at Hotel Kalinga, followed by a left or right turn at Hotel Empire. These vehicles can then proceed through Lokhandwala Complex Road instead of using the closed bridge.

The Mumbai Traffic Police has advised motorists to follow traffic signs, directional boards and instructions issued by personnel deployed in the area. Drivers have also been asked to use the prescribed alternative routes and cooperate with traffic officials during the reconstruction period.

The bridge closure places the management of local traffic and construction coordination at the centre of the project. The notification does not provide additional details on the reconstruction cost, contractor, design, construction milestones or the proposed date for reopening before May 31, 2027. The stated traffic restriction will continue until that date while the BMC undertakes demolition and rebuilding at the same location.
