Delhi:

In the capital city, the drill will involve 55 locations, including 650 schools, where students will participate in evacuation exercises and blackout response training. Schools will be guided by a demonstration video detailing the correct procedures for the drill, ensuring that all educational institutions are well-prepared. The siren will sound at 4:00 pm, marking the start of the evacuation exercise, followed by simulated blackouts lasting for 30 minutes.

Mumbai:

Maharashtra will see a large-scale mock drill at 16 locations across 10 districts, including major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, and Thane, as well as smaller towns like Uran and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The drill will focus on civil defence measures, preparing citizens for natural calamities or emergencies. At 4:00 pm, a siren will signal the start of the mock drill, where citizens will be expected to follow evacuation procedures, simulating a natural disaster.

Bengaluru:

In Karnataka, mock drills will be held in key cities such as Bengaluru, Karwar, and Raichur, with the Director General of Police emphasizing the importance of identifying gaps in the current emergency preparedness framework. The drills will run for an entire week, beginning with the first alarm at 4:00 pm on May 7, and will reflect the state’s comprehensive approach to improving disaster response strategies.

Hyderabad:

Hyderabad will conduct its drills at four key locations, involving police, fire services, and disaster response teams. A siren will signal an incoming air raid at 4:00 pm, followed by another at 4:30 pm to indicate the conclusion of the exercise. This drill will focus on coordinating responses between multiple agencies in the event of a major disaster.

Kolkata:

In West Bengal, a seven-day statewide mock drill will be conducted, with sirens activated at 90 critical locations in Kolkata, including the Civil Defence building and Kolkata Police Headquarters. The exercise will assess the readiness of emergency response teams across the state. The first siren at 4:00 pm will prompt participants to start their evacuation procedures.

Chennai:

In Tamil Nadu, the civil defence mock drill will focus on critical infrastructure sites, such as the Madras Atomic Power Station in Chengalpattu and the Chennai Port Trust. At 4:00 pm, the drill will commence with a statewide blackout, followed by a detailed evaluation of emergency response at key infrastructure points across the city.

Chandigarh:

In Punjab and Haryana, civil defence drills will take place at 20 locations in Punjab, including major cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Bathinda. Haryana’s drills will be conducted in cities such as Ambala, Gurugram, and Panchkula. The siren will sound at 4:00 pm, and citizens will engage in coordinated evacuation and safety measures.

Lucknow:

Uttar Pradesh will conduct a full-scale drill across all its districts, with a ten-minute blackout planned in Bareilly at 8:00 pm. The exercise will ensure that residents across the state are familiar with blackout protocols, and that citizens are prepared for emergencies by following state-wide evacuation instructions.

Srinagar:

Jammu and Kashmir will hold mock drills across seven civil defence districts, including Anantnag, Baramulla, and Srinagar. The exercise will focus on strengthening the civil defence framework and ensuring that citizens are well-prepared for any unforeseen disasters. The siren will go off at 4:00 pm, initiating coordinated emergency response activities.

Thiruvananthapuram:

Kerala will conduct mock drills across 14 districts, as directed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. These drills will test the state’s disaster preparedness and response strategies, with the siren sounding at 4:00 pm to mark the beginning of the exercise.

Guwahati:

Assam’s 14 civil defence districts will actively participate in the nationwide preparedness exercise, enhancing the state’s overall disaster management systems. The siren will signal the start of drills at 4:00 pm, with focus on evacuation routes and emergency procedures.

Gangtok:

Sikkim will conduct drills in its capital, Gangtok, and in Singtam, with fire services and rescue teams engaged in mock evacuations and casualty transportation. The siren at 4:00 pm will signal the start of the statewide exercise.

Port Blair:

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will conduct their own set of mock drills, ensuring that the Union Territory is aligned with national safety protocols. The siren will sound at 4:00 pm, marking the beginning of the simulated emergency exercise.

General Guidelines for Participants

As the nationwide mock drill approaches, residents are advised to take specific precautions. At 4:00 pm, when the siren sounds, all lights in homes, offices, and public places must be switched off. Emergency kits, including torches, radios, dry food, and essential medicines, should be kept readily available. Radios and televisions must be tuned to official channels for real-time updates during the drill.
