Miyapur Land Secured After Supreme Court Verdict, Says Revanth

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to immediately take over and fence 550 acres of government land in Miyapur after what he described as a favourable Supreme Court verdict, bringing a disputed parcel valued by the state at more than Rs.50,000 crore back into focus.

Speaking on Friday, Revanth called the court decision historic and instructed the concerned officials to secure the land. The Chief Minister said the state government would decide how the parcel should be used after receiving the report of a cabinet sub-committee.

According to the account reported by Deccan Chronicle, Revanth alleged that Damodar Rao, identified as a relative of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, and businessman Goldstone Prasad had attempted to encroach on the Miyapur land. He also accused KCR, his family members and leaders of trying to take over government land and tamper with revenue records.

The allegations were made in the context of a long-running political and legal dispute over the Miyapur property. Revanth said the Congress, while in opposition during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government, had fought to protect the land. He added that after Congress came to power, the state government argued the case and secured the favourable Supreme Court decision.

The immediate administrative priority is physical possession and protection of the site. Directing officials to fence the land indicates that the government is treating the property as vulnerable to further encroachment or unauthorised claims. The available report does not provide details of the Supreme Court’s order, the parties to the case, or the specific legal findings that led to the verdict.

Revanth said a decision on the future use of the land would be taken after the cabinet sub-committee submits its report. He added that, if necessary, revenue generated from a sale of the property could be used to strengthen education infrastructure for students. No sale decision or development plan has been announced so far.

The Chief Minister also said the Congress government had protected government lands worth Rs.1.50 lakh crore over the last three years. The figure was presented as a measure of the government’s land-protection efforts, but the report does not include a parcel-wise breakdown or details of the properties covered by the claim.

A separate probe has already been initiated into alleged land encroachments involving BRS leaders during their time in government, the report said. The probe reportedly includes former minister and MLA T Harish Rao. The available information does not specify the investigating agency, the terms of reference, or the stage of the inquiry.

The next formal steps are the takeover and fencing of the Miyapur land, followed by consideration of the cabinet sub-committee’s report on its use. Any proposed sale, allocation or development of the parcel would require further government decisions and related administrative action.
