MHADA Pune Housing Deadline Extended to October 22

The MHADA Pune housing application deadline has been extended to October 22, giving applicants an additional week to complete their online applications and pay the required earnest money deposit. The Pune Housing and Area Development Board said the extension was necessary because the online verification of domicile and income certificates remains incomplete for thousands of applicants.

Applicants can now submit their forms until 11.59 pm on October 22. The final lottery for the flats covered under the scheme is scheduled for December 4, Pune MHADA chief officer Rahul Sakore said.

The housing board had published its advertisement for flats under the 15 per cent social housing scheme and the 20 per cent comprehensive housing scheme on August 24. Online registration began at noon the same day. According to information provided by MHADA, 1,65,028 applicants have registered so far, while 1,01,811 applicants have paid the earnest money deposit.

The application process requires applicants to upload domicile and income certificates through the online system. Domicile and income certificates are being verified online by MahaIT, while income-tax returns are being checked by the Income Tax Department. Delays in these verification processes had earlier led MHADA to extend the application deadline to October 15.

The latest extension follows continuing difficulties in completing certificate verification. MHADA said 3,872 domicile certificates and 9,142 income certificates were still pending verification. The additional time is intended to allow applicants to complete documentation and submit their applications after the required records are processed.

The numbers show the scale of the administrative workload behind the lottery. More than 1.65 lakh people have registered, but the number of applicants who have paid the deposit is substantially lower, indicating that registration and completion of the application process are separate stages. Applicants who have not completed the required steps must finish the application and pay the earnest money deposit before the revised deadline.

The extension also highlights how access to public housing increasingly depends on the coordination of multiple digital verification systems. Although MHADA is conducting the housing process, certificate checks are being handled through MahaIT and income-tax records are being verified by a separate central department. Pending verification at any stage can prevent an applicant from completing the process within the original deadline.

MHADA has asked applicants to complete the application process and deposit payment before 11.59 pm on October 22. The final lottery is scheduled to be conducted on December 4.
