The MHADA Konkan Board is preparing a lottery for about 1,000 homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including approximately 550 homes made available under the 20% inclusive housing scheme. The lottery is expected to be held in November, with homes priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 42 lakh, according to information reported by Loksatta and attributed to the board’s chief officer, Dr Vishal Rathod.
The board is expected to publish an advertisement for the housing lottery within a month. The proposed draw will include around 550 homes from the 20% scheme and another 450 homes from the Konkan Board’s own housing scheme. The projects are located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and include homes in the Chitalsar-Manpada area, among other locations covered by the board’s housing plans.
The announcement provides an updated position on the Konkan Board’s previously declared plan for an 8,000-home lottery. That larger plan was expected to include approximately 5,500 homes made available through the 20% inclusive housing scheme. However, the state government subsequently transferred the scheme from MHADA to municipal corporations, limiting the homes that the housing boards could include in their lotteries.
Under the change, MHADA’s divisional boards can conduct lotteries only for homes that became available before August 12. The Konkan Board had received approximately 550 homes under the scheme by that date. The board has therefore decided to include those homes in the upcoming draw, making it the final Konkan Board lottery involving homes from the 20% scheme, according to the report.
The 20% inclusive housing provision requires private development projects to make a portion of their housing stock available through the designated affordable housing framework. In this case, the homes are located in projects developed by private builders but are being offered through the MHADA process at prices ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 42 lakh, based on the details released in the report.
The proposed draw will come after the Mumbai Board recently conducted a lottery for 2,640 homes. Applicants waiting for the Konkan Board’s announcement are expected to receive details about eligibility, locations, prices, application dates and other conditions through the formal advertisement. Those details were not included in the information currently available.
The board’s marketing department has started preparing the advertisement, Dr Rathod said. The formal notice is expected to be published within a month, followed by the lottery in November. The advertisement will establish the final inventory and provide applicants with the official process for applying for the approximately 1,000 homes.
