The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) carried out 29 demolition actions and sealed 10 properties across the Capital on Monday, intensifying its city-wide enforcement drive against unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and violations of building regulations.
The civic body also issued seven demolition orders during the day-long exercise, according to an MCD statement. The action was undertaken across all 12 MCD zones to enforce provisions of the Master Plan of Delhi, the Building Bye-Laws and other applicable regulations.
The enforcement teams covered several locations in west and north-west Delhi, including Hari Nagar, Tagore Garden Extension, Vikas Puri, Dabri More, Sitapuri, Regharpura, Dev Nagar, Sharda Puri and Keshavpuram. Further action was reported from Kapil Vihar, Shakarpur, Kailash Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Madhu Vihar, West Vinod Nagar and Old Seemapuri.
MCD teams also carried out demolition-related action in Chauhan Banger, Bamnoli, Kadipur, Keshav Nagar and Ibrahimpur, among other areas. The civic body did not provide a location-wise breakdown of the 29 demolition actions, the 10 sealed properties or the seven demolition orders in the statement supplied for the exercise.
The campaign places the enforcement of Delhi’s building rules across a wide range of neighbourhoods under the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction. The MCD said the measures were focused on unauthorised constructions, dangerous structures and other violations that could pose risks to public safety. The statement did not specify whether the properties involved were residential, commercial or mixed-use.
The action also reflects the MCD’s continuing role in monitoring construction activity and taking enforcement measures when violations are identified. Building regulation in Delhi involves checking whether construction conforms to the applicable planning and building rules, while action against dangerous structures is linked to public safety in densely built neighbourhoods.
The civic body said enforcement teams were maintaining vigilance across its jurisdiction and had been directed to continue monitoring construction activity. It added that the enforcement exercise would continue across all 12 zones, with further action to be taken against unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and other building norm violations.
