Maharashtra CM Unveils 7 Flyovers, Declares State Infrastructure Leader
Maharashtra continues to set the pace for infrastructure development in India, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announcing the state’s rise to the top spot in national infrastructure progress. Speaking at the inauguration of seven new flyovers built by Maharail, Fadnavis celebrated Maharashtra’s sustained commitment to modernising its transport and urban facilities. The event, which took place at the Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural College Sports Ground in Nagpur, marked yet another milestone in the state’s growing infrastructure portfolio.
The newly inaugurated flyovers, located at strategic locations across the state, are a part of Maharashtra’s broader vision to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion. While flyovers are an important aspect of the state’s infrastructure overhaul, Fadnavis emphasised that the initiatives stretch far beyond this category. Metro rail projects, national highways, upgraded airports, and port development all form a key part of Maharashtra’s ambitious infrastructure agenda. In his speech, the CM acknowledged the vital role of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in advancing infrastructure projects at both the central and state levels. Gadkari’s leadership has been instrumental in the rollout of major infrastructure schemes, complementing the efforts of the Maharashtra government in transforming the state’s transport framework.
Fadnavis pointed out that the Maharashtra government has made remarkable strides under the leadership of both the Centre and the state, especially in terms of implementation speed and project quality. He highlighted the Maharail initiative, which has become a benchmark for infrastructure construction, lauding its efficiency. The state’s plans to complete an additional 200 railway flyovers and underground routes in the coming years further underscore its dedication to tackling the growing needs of its infrastructure. Notably, Minister of Finance and Planning Ashish Jaiswal, along with other key officials like Legislative Council member Kripal Tumane and MLA Krishna Khopde, were present to support the CM at the event. Several leaders, including Minister of Marketing and Protocol Jaykumar Rawal and MLA Pratap Adsad, participated through video conferencing, underscoring the statewide backing for these projects.
With significant investments flowing into Maharashtra’s infrastructure landscape, the state’s aspirations to become a model of modernisation and connectivity are rapidly materialising. The completion of these flyovers marks a critical phase in a broader strategy that is reshaping the state’s urban and transport infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing economy and population.
