KSRTC Adds 3,000 Special Buses for Karnataka Dasara Travel

KSRTC will operate 3,000 special buses during the Dasara festival and school and college holidays to meet the expected rise in travel from Bengaluru to destinations across Karnataka and neighbouring states. The additional services will run between October 16 and 20 from Bengaluru, while special operations are also planned on October 20 and 21.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation said the services will include Karnataka Sarige, Rajahamsa, sleeper, Airavata, Airavata Club Class multi-axle, EV Power Plus, Ambari Club Class, Ambari Utsav and Pallakki buses. Services will depart from Kempegowda Bus Station, the Mysuru Road Bus Station and the BMTC bus station at Shantinagar.

The additional buses will connect Bengaluru with major religious, tourist and district destinations, including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Sringeri, Horanadu, Kollur and Gokarna. Inter-state services will also operate towards Hyderabad, Chennai, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Shirdi, Pune and Ernakulam, among other locations.

For Dasara travel to Mysuru, KSRTC will operate 300 additional buses from the Mysuru Road Bus Station in Bengaluru. A further 400 buses will connect Mysuru with nearby tourist and religious destinations, including Chamundi Hill, the Krishna Raja Sagara dam, Srirangapatna and Nanjangud, as well as Madikeri, Mandya, Malavalli, H.D. Kote, Chamarajanagar, Hunsur, K.R. Nagar and Gundlupet. Together, these services will add 700 buses in the Mysuru region for the festival period.

KSRTC will also provide a direct Flybus service from Kempegowda International Airport to Mysuru. In Mysuru, special Giridarshini, Jaladarshini and Devadarshini tour operations will be available from October 15 to 26. The corporation said separate information centres would be opened at the Mysuru Rural and City bus stations to assist passengers.

Additional tourism packages are planned for Mangaluru and Kodagu during the festival season. Mangaluru packages will cover Dasara travel, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala, Kollur, Sigandur and Sringeri between October 11 and 20. Kodagu Dasara services will include the Kaveri Darshan and Kodagu’s attractions packages.

The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation has prepared seven special packages to help visitors travel beyond Mysuru city. These include a two-day Ooty trip, local Mysuru tours, Belur-Halebidu-Shravanabelagola, major Kodagu destinations, Shivanasamudra and surrounding areas, and Nanjangud and other religious, historical and natural attractions. The packages will include one-day and two-day itineraries.
