KSRTC Adds 2,600 Special Buses for Bengaluru’s Deepavali Rush

KSRTC will operate 2,600 special buses from Bengaluru during the Deepavali travel rush, with services scheduled between November 6 and 8 for passengers leaving the city and on November 10 and 11 for those returning to Bengaluru. The arrangement is intended to handle the expected increase in travel caused by the festival coinciding with the weekend.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will run the additional services from Kempegowda Bus Station, the Mysuru Road Bus Station and the BMTC bus station at Shanthinagar. Passengers will be able to travel to destinations across Karnataka, including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi and Karwar.

The special services will also connect Bengaluru with destinations in northern and central Karnataka, including Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir and Bidar. Services have additionally been planned for Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Madikeri, among other locations.

KSRTC has made advance seat reservation available on the additional buses. The corporation has asked passengers to check the bus station and pickup-point details printed on their reserved tickets before travelling to the terminal. This is particularly relevant during the festival period, when services may operate from designated boarding points rather than a passenger’s usual bus stand.

Online reservations can be made through the KSRTC website, www.ksrtc.karnataka.gov.in. The corporation has announced a 5% discount for groups of four or more passengers who make an advance reservation together. Passengers who book both onward and return tickets together will receive a 10% discount on the return fare, according to the KSRTC chief traffic manager.

The arrangement covers both outbound and inbound demand, reflecting the two-way movement associated with the festival period. Buses will leave Bengaluru for various destinations during the three days from November 6 to 8, while return services to Bengaluru will operate from different locations on November 10 and 11.

The expanded schedule gives passengers an alternative to last-minute travel arrangements during one of the busiest periods in the intercity transport calendar. The final boarding location for each reserved journey will be determined by the information printed on the ticket, and passengers have been advised to verify those details before reaching the bus station.
