Crater-sized potholes on a roughly 100-metre approach road in Kondhwa Budruk have left residents of Fortune Prospero Housing Society and nearby settlements facing unsafe access to Punyadham Ashram Road, with the damaged stretch also used by industrial workers travelling to Tyni Industrial Estate in Pisoli.
Residents said no repairs had been carried out even after the monsoon rains subsided. The road connecting Fortune Prospero to the main road is narrow and heavily damaged, making it difficult for motorists to pass, according to the residents.
Fortune Prospero has more than 180 flats. A resident said the society is located only a few metres from Punyadham Ashram Road, but the connecting stretch has deteriorated severely. “We expected civic officials to undertake repairs after the rains stopped, but no work has been carried out so far,” the resident said.
Another resident, Tanvi Shaikh, said the condition of the road had made it unsafe for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. She said frequent movement of heavy vehicles, the narrow road width and the large potholes were increasing the risk of accidents.
“There is no tar visible on the road. Given its condition, it is difficult to even call it a road. Despite being part of the Pune Municipal Corporation and paying our taxes regularly, we feel as though we are living in a rural area,” Shaikh said.
Residents also raised concerns about traffic congestion along Punyadham Ashram Road. They alleged that encroachments had restricted vehicle movement and contributed to traffic jams, particularly during peak hours. They further claimed that no visible anti-encroachment drive had taken place in recent months.
The approach road is used not only by residents of Fortune Prospero but also by people from nearby settlements and workers travelling towards the Tyni Industrial Estate. Its condition therefore affects access beyond a single housing society, particularly for two-wheeler users who must navigate the potholes alongside larger vehicles.
Residents contrasted the condition of the route with road construction for a cycling tour by the district administration. They urged the civic administration to repair the damaged stretch, remove encroachments and improve traffic movement on Punyadham Ashram Road.
The residents’ immediate demands are road repairs and action against obstructions along the route. No civic response or repair timeline was provided in the report.
