Kodangal Development Push Gains Rail, Industry and Healthcare Plans

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced a development push for Kodangal centred on railway connectivity, industrial growth, healthcare, roads and temple infrastructure, with local representatives asked to complete projects by December 2027.

Speaking at a Dasara Atmeeya Sammelanam in Kodangal Assembly constituency in Vikarabad district, Reddy called for political differences to be set aside and urged residents, elected representatives and officials to work collectively to transform the constituency into a model for Telangana and the country.

The Chief Minister reviewed renovation work at the Sri Mahalakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple, popularly known as the Kodangal Balaji temple. He had laid the foundation stone for the renovation in May. Reddy said the reconstruction would increase the temple’s prominence and attract devotees from neighbouring Karnataka.

According to the Chief Minister, several leaders had sought to develop the temple as a “Tirupati of the poor” in Telangana, but the project had faced repeated delays. He also reviewed work at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Daulatabad and the Sri Venugopala Swamy temple in Kosgi.

Healthcare infrastructure formed another part of the review. Reddy inspected the progress of a 430-bed hospital in Kodangal and linked the project to the constituency’s wider effort to improve access to essential facilities. He recalled that residents had previously travelled to other places for education and other services.

The Chief Minister said the government was working to develop Kodangal as an education and industrial hub. He said in-principle approvals had been secured for the Krishna-Vikarabad railway line, which is intended to improve connectivity for the region. The report did not provide a construction schedule, route length or funding details for the proposed railway link.

Reddy also pointed to the region’s limestone reserves and said all necessary permissions would be provided for setting up cement manufacturing plants. He said the cement industry could generate employment opportunities for local youth. The announcement places industrial activity alongside transport and public-service projects in the constituency’s proposed development plan.

A major industrial park is being developed near Lagacharla, the Chief Minister said. He also announced plans for a 300-foot-wide road connecting Kosgi directly to Hyderabad International Airport. No execution timeline, land-acquisition details or estimated cost for the road or industrial park were provided in the report.

Reddy asked sarpanches and local public representatives to ensure that the projects were completed by December 2027. The deadline now serves as the stated milestone for the constituency’s development programme, while details on project agencies, tenders and implementation arrangements remain to be announced.
