KEA Recruitment Exam Adds Double Invigilation to Block Cheating

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will deploy two invigilators in every examination room for upcoming recruitment tests under the Kalaburagi division of Karnataka’s municipal administration department, alongside jammers, intensive searches and webcasting to prevent malpractice.

Written examinations for Electrician Grade 1 and Grade 2, pharmacy, nursing and other posts are scheduled across November 6, 7 and 14. KEA has introduced the two-invigilator arrangement for the first time for these recruitment examinations, with one supervisor positioned at the front of the room and the other monitoring candidates from the rear.

KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna said the authority had instructed examination centres to ensure that jammers were functioning properly. The measures are intended to strengthen monitoring inside and outside the examination rooms as the authority conducts tests for posts in the municipal administration department’s Kalaburagi division.

The examination for eight Electrician posts will be held on November 6 at two centres in Bengaluru. A total of 1,015 candidates have applied for that examination, according to the information released by KEA.

The pharmacy examination is scheduled for November 7. On November 14, KEA will conduct examinations for 205 posts comprising water-supply operators and assistant water-supply operators. The authority said arrangements had been made for the examinations across the three dates.

Candidates will be admitted only after intensive checks conducted with assistance from the police and Home Guards, Prasanna said. KEA has also decided to carry out a second round of checks inside the examination room after candidates have entered. The authority said webcasting would provide an additional layer of surveillance during the tests.

The measures place the examination process under scrutiny at multiple points: entry to the centre, movement into the examination room, monitoring during the test and remote observation through webcasting. KEA has not disclosed in the supplied information the number of examination centres for the pharmacy and water-supply posts or the technical specifications of the webcasting and jamming arrangements.

The examinations are part of recruitment for public-service positions connected to municipal administration and water-supply operations. The posts include technical and healthcare-related roles, while the water-supply positions are linked to the functioning of civic services. KEA’s stated focus, however, is on ensuring examination integrity rather than detailing the subsequent recruitment timeline.

The authority’s next scheduled step is to conduct the Electrician examination at the two Bengaluru centres on November 6, followed by the pharmacy test on November 7 and the water-supply operator examinations on November 14.
