Karnataka ration-card beneficiaries who have not completed e-KYC must do so by November 10, the Food Department has said, warning that the deadline will not be extended again. As of November 3, 41,33,529 beneficiaries remained to complete the process.
The department said 2,26,30,747 beneficiaries had completed e-KYC out of the 2,67,64,276 ration-card beneficiaries identified for re-verification across the state. The remaining beneficiaries have been asked to complete the process before the deadline.
According to the Food Department, beneficiaries can complete e-KYC themselves through the Anna Seva mobile application or visit fair price shops, where the process can be carried out using the Aahara software. The department has made clear that the process must be completed within the specified period.
The November 10 deadline has already been extended once. The department said it would not extend the deadline for any reason after that date. Beneficiaries who fail to complete e-KYC may face further action according to the applicable rules, it said.
The scale of the pending exercise means the final week is likely to place pressure on both the department’s digital service channels and fair price shops assisting beneficiaries. The department’s instructions provide two routes: self-service through the Anna Seva application and assisted completion at fair price shops through Aahara.
The e-KYC exercise is being conducted for ration-card beneficiaries across Karnataka. The figures released by the department show that most of the identified beneficiaries had completed the re-verification by November 3, while more than 41 lakh remained pending three days before the stated deadline.
Beneficiaries who have yet to complete the process must use the Anna Seva application or approach their fair price shop before November 10. The Food Department’s next stated milestone is the closure of the e-KYC process on that date, after which it has said no further extension will be granted.
