Railway passengers travelling on the Ahmedabad–Palanpur corridor will face service disruptions from October 26 to 28 as girder-launching work begins for a road overbridge near Kalol station, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar – Ahmedabad.
The work is being carried out near railway crossing number 232, where a road overbridge is under construction. The railway engineering department will undertake the girder-launching operation, requiring changes to train services during the three-day work window.
Several passenger trains have been cancelled as a result. The affected services include the Sabarmati–Katosan MEMU, Gandhinagar–Varetha MEMU and Patan–Sabarmati DEMU, according to the report. The source states that five trains will be fully cancelled, while one express service will be partially cancelled.
Train number 20959/20960, the Valsad–Vadnagar–Valsad Express, will be partially cancelled on October 27. The service will not operate between Gandhinagar Capital and Vadnagar on that day. Passengers travelling towards Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kalol, Vadnagar and Patan have been advised to account for the altered services while planning their journeys.
The disruption is linked to the execution stage of the Kalol road overbridge project, specifically the launching of structural girders over or near the railway alignment. Such work requires railway operations to be modified to maintain safety during construction, although the supplied report does not provide further details on the work schedule or the expected completion date of the bridge.
Passengers have been advised to check the status of their train and make alternative travel arrangements where necessary. The cancellations and partial cancellation apply to the dates specified for the girder-launching operation, with the Valsad–Vadnagar Express change specifically identified for October 27.
