Jubilant Ingrevia Expands Green Energy Footprint
Jubilant Ingrevia Limited has strengthened its commitment to sustainable energy by forging a strategic alliance with O2 Power to procure renewable power for its Bharuch Manufacturing Facility in Gujarat. This initiative aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts to integrate clean energy into its operations, marking a significant step in reducing its carbon footprint. With this agreement, Jubilant Ingrevia aims to ensure that 50% of the facility’s power demand is met through renewable sources, reinforcing its dedication to eco-friendly industrial practices.
This collaboration follows similar renewable energy initiatives at Jubilant’s facilities in Savli, Gujarat, and Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh, where renewable power supply is slated to commence in April 2025. The latest move positions Jubilant Ingrevia as a frontrunner in India’s industrial sustainability landscape, with over 35% of its total energy needs across all manufacturing units now being derived from renewable sources. The deal underscores the growing importance of corporate responsibility in India’s industrial sector, as companies strive to transition towards greener operations in response to rising environmental concerns and regulatory shifts.
Deepak Jain, CEO & Managing Director of Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, emphasised the significance of this transition, stating that the Bharuch facility’s shift to renewable energy reflects the company’s long-term vision of integrating sustainability into its core business strategy. He highlighted that this move aligns with India’s broader climate goals and the global push towards decarbonisation. Parag Sharma, Founder & CEO of O2 Power, echoed this sentiment, describing the partnership as a vital step towards a low-carbon future. He noted that O2 Power’s collaboration with Jubilant is part of a broader mission to supply reliable, renewable energy to industries seeking sustainable solutions.
Jubilant Ingrevia’s proactive stance on sustainability is deeply embedded in its corporate ethos, having championed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices for over two decades. The company has consistently secured high rankings in sustainability benchmarks, including the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Ecovadis, the CDP Climate Change Program, and Responsible Care certifications. Notably, the World Economic Forum recently recognised the Bharuch facility as a Global Manufacturing Lighthouse—the only chemical plant in the 2024 cohort—highlighting its digital transformation and commitment to sustainability. As India accelerates its clean energy transition, Jubilant Ingrevia’s latest move serves as a testament to how industrial giants can lead the charge toward an eco-friendly and net-zero future.
