Join Yogi’s Green Mission Plant Saplings on July 20

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s innovative initiative, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, urging citizens to plant saplings across the nation. The initiative aims to address pressing issues like global warming and enhance ecological balance.

Speaking at a media interaction at his official residence, where he participated in the campaign by planting a sapling, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister for launching such a significant campaign. He highlighted the campaign’s importance in engaging citizens in the vital task of environmental preservation. The Chief Minister called upon the people of Uttar Pradesh to join the ‘Vriksharopan Mahabhiyan’ by planting a sapling in their mother’s name on July 20. The state government has prepared an impressive stock of 54 crore plants in its nurseries, including ecologically beneficial species such as Peepal, Pakar, Neem, Desi Mango, Jamun, Guava, Shisham, and Teak. Additionally, Yogi Adityanath underscored the significance of moringa plants, which are being distributed for free to the beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana. “Moringa is immensely beneficial for health. Consuming its pods or soup can combat malnutrition. Two years ago, we planted a moringa sapling at each beneficiary’s home under the PM Awas Yojana. These saplings have now grown significantly. This year, we are expanding the campaign with approximately 5.5 million moringa plants,” he stated.

The campaign will see plantations in various settings, including village panchayats, municipal bodies, parks, along roadsides, and in vacant spaces. This extensive plantation drive is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s green cover and support efforts against climate change. According to Prime Minister’s vision, the state administration aims to foster a collective sense of responsibility towards the environment. The initiative not only honours mothers by dedicating trees in their name but also serves as a meaningful step towards sustainable development.

The Chief Minister’s proactive involvement and call to action are anticipated to galvanise widespread participation, making the ‘Vriksharopan Mahabhiyan’ a monumental effort in Uttar Pradesh’s environmental agenda. This initiative underscores the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability and sets a benchmark for other regions to follow.
