Jaipur to Welcome Second Signal-Free Crossing at B2B Intersection

Jaipur: Following the successful implementation of the signal-free crossing at Laxmi Mandir Tiraha, Jaipur city is poised to introduce its second signal-free crossing at the B2B-Tonk Road intersection in the near future.

Engineers from the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), tasked with executing the project, have confirmed that the initiative is nearing completion, heralding an era where vehicles can seamlessly traverse the intersection without halting at traffic signals. “We are on the verge of opening the cloverleafs to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow and deactivate all traffic signals at the B2B-Tonk Road crossing. This development marks a significant milestone, officially designating the B2B-Tonk Road crossing as the city’s second signal-free intersection,” stated a senior JDA engineer.

As part of the project, the JDA has constructed an underpass beneath the ISKCON Road to facilitate vehicular movement between the Mansarovar and Jawahar Circle areas. Additionally, cloverleaf structures are being erected on Tonk Road on both sides of the intersection to streamline traffic flow. “With the completion of the cloverleaf structures, vehicles requiring a right turn at this junction will utilize the designated cloverleaf ramps. Those commuting to and from Mansarovar and Jawahar Circle are already benefitting from the underpass, effectively eliminating the need for signal stops and minimizing traffic congestion,” explained the engineer overseeing the project.

In a broader context of enhancing traffic efficiency along the Rambagh Circle to Sanganer Airport corridor, the JDA has outlined plans to transform three critical crossings into signal-free zones: Rambagh Circle, Laxmi Mandir Tiraha, and the upcoming B2B-Tonk Road intersection. Notably, flyovers have been constructed at Gopalpura and Durgapura crossings to facilitate seamless traffic movement. Once the B2B-Tonk Road and Laxmi Mandir Tiraha crossings achieve signal-free status, the JDA will pivot its focus towards preparing for the signal-free upgrade of the Rambagh Circle crossing, as confirmed by a JDA engineer. Jaipur’s infrastructure enhancements, particularly the introduction of signal-free crossings like the B2B-Tonk Road intersection, underscore the city’s commitment to bolstering transportation efficiency and fostering urban development.
