Jaipur Power Supply Gets Diwali Upgrade, Planned Outages Today

Jaipur power supply is being prepared for the Diwali peak through a maintenance and repair drive across all 18 zones of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL), with planned outages in several neighbourhoods on Tuesday as field teams inspect and repair vulnerable parts of the network.

The work is intended to reduce the risk of transformer failures, line faults and unscheduled interruptions during the festive period, when electricity demand typically rises because of decorative lighting, commercial activity and higher household consumption. Consumers in areas covered by the maintenance programme may face temporary shutdowns, with officials saying advance information will be provided to limit inconvenience.

RK Sharma, director (technical), Jaipur Discom, said teams have been deployed to inspect loose conductors, damaged insulators, ageing cables, transformers and other equipment. Field staff are also assessing feeder-wise loads, voltage levels and demand patterns to identify sections that could be vulnerable during peak-load conditions, he said.

The programme covers urban and rural areas under JVVNL’s jurisdiction. Officials said preventive repairs before the festive rush are aimed at improving network reliability and reducing technical disruptions caused by overloaded infrastructure. Maintenance and emergency response teams will remain on standby through the festival period to address faults that may occur after the planned work.

The scheduled shutdowns are expected to affect households, markets and small businesses in areas where repair and inspection work is under way. Outages during the festive shopping season can disrupt commercial activity, particularly for traders and establishments that depend on uninterrupted electricity for daily operations.

According to the schedule issued for Tuesday, power interruptions from 10am to 2pm are expected in Subhash Chowk and parts of the Walled City, Sangaripura, Vaishali Nagar, Khatipura and Ajmer Road. The shutdown schedule also covers Bel in Mansarovar, including sectors 4, 5, SFS, 122, 123 and 124 and surrounding areas, along with Central and C-Scheme, Tonk Road, Gandhi Nagar and Durgapura.

Sanganer and Pratap Nagar are scheduled for outages from 10am to 4pm. Chaugan and parts of the Walled City are listed for interruptions from 1pm to 5pm. Triveni Nagar, Rambagh, C-Scheme and the Durgapura belt are scheduled for a shutdown from 2pm to 5pm.

The schedule lists outages from 2pm to 6pm in the Khatipura, Jhotwara and Amrapali belt. Mansarovar sectors 5, 6, SFS, 122, 123 and 124, along with surrounding areas, are also included in this time window. The timings may affect different pockets within the listed areas depending on the feeder and repair work involved.

JVVNL officials said network monitoring would continue throughout the festival period. The utility’s stated objective is to complete preventive maintenance across its 18 zones before the festive peak and maintain reliable electricity supply during Diwali celebrations.
