Jaipur Monuments Face 5pm Closures During Diwali Weekend

Nine Jaipur monuments, including Amer Palace and Hawa Mahal, will close to visitors at 5pm from November 7 to 9 during Diwali and Govardhan Puja festivities, according to an order issued by the Archaeology and Museums department.

The temporary change will affect Amer Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Nahargarh Fort, the Government Central Museum, Isarlat, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh, Vidyadhar ka Bagh and Gandhi Vatika. The revised timings will remain in force for three days.

The department said the updated schedules would be reflected on its e-ticketing system and official website. Visitors planning evening trips to the monuments have been advised to check the revised timings before travelling, particularly during the ongoing tourist season.

Jaipur’s major heritage attractions have been recording increased footfall from domestic and international visitors as the tourist season gets underway. The early closures are being implemented during a period when festive activity and visitor demand are expected to place additional pressure on access arrangements at popular sites.

The order covers monuments and museums spread across Jaipur’s principal heritage and tourism areas. Amer Palace and Nahargarh Fort are among the city’s prominent hill attractions, while Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar are located in the historic central area. The Government Central Museum, Isarlat, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh, Vidyadhar ka Bagh and Gandhi Vatika are also included in the temporary schedule.

The department is also strengthening security arrangements at monuments and museums during the festive period. Additional home guards have been deployed, while CCTV cameras are being used for surveillance across the sites.

The measures combine an operational change in visitor timings with increased on-site security. For tourists and residents, the most immediate effect will be the loss of evening visiting hours between November 7 and 9. Those arriving after 5pm will not be able to enter the affected monuments under the temporary schedule.

The revised timings are scheduled to remain in effect through November 9, after which the department’s regular operating arrangements are expected to apply unless a further notice is issued. Visitors can refer to the department’s official website and e-ticketing system for the updated schedule before visiting.
