Jaipur: In a proactive measure to mitigate the challenges posed by the monsoon, civic authorities in Jaipur have announced a moratorium on all road excavation activities until September 15. This decision, aimed at preventing the exacerbation of waterlogging issues, applies to both government and private entities.
An official from the civic administration explained, “Most roads in the city experience significant waterlogging during the rainy season. To avoid further inconveniencing residents, we have decided to halt all road digging activities. This applies to our operations as well as those of any other government or private agencies.” The directive is part of a broader strategy to ensure smooth and safe transportation for Jaipur’s residents during the monsoon. The urban development minister, Jhabar Singh Kharra, has instructed the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to prioritize the swift resolution of problems arising from recent rainfall. He emphasized the importance of resource allocation and vigilant monitoring to address rain-related issues promptly.
“The minister has directed us to maintain effective coordination with other agencies operating in the region, including the National Highways Authority of India, Greater and Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporations, Rajasthan Housing Board, and RIICO,” an official stated. “This collaborative approach is essential for the immediate resolution of any rain-induced complications.” In light of the recent heavy downpours, the JDA is intensifying efforts to patrol affected areas and deploy necessary resources for quick intervention. The civic bodies are focused on ensuring that drainage systems are functioning optimally and that any emerging issues are addressed without delay. Residents of Jaipur have expressed relief at the decision, appreciating the administration’s foresight in preempting potential disruptions during the monsoon.
