Residents of five housing societies in Indirapuram’s Abhay Khand-3 have complained that a public park was left unclean for several days after a Durga Puja pandal and temporary shops were removed from the site. The Security Apartments RWA has approached the police and the municipal corporation over the delay.
According to the residents, the park’s regular facilities were affected for about 15 days while the pandal and shops occupied part of the public space. The pandal also remained in place for two days after the festival ended before it was removed following repeated requests.
Ummed Kaira, an executive committee member of the Security Apartments RWA, said the festival had concluded several days earlier but the park had still not been cleaned. Residents were facing inconvenience because waste and the effects of the temporary installation remained after the structure was taken away, he said.
The complaint highlights the responsibility of event organisers and civic authorities to restore public spaces after temporary religious or commercial use. In this case, residents said the clearance of the pandal did not immediately result in the restoration of the park for regular use.
Zonal in-charge Rajesh Gupta said organisers had been instructed to remove the pandal and clean the site. He said a municipal team would be sent to the park to carry out the cleaning.
The complaint was made by the Security Apartments RWA to the police and municipal corporation. The report did not specify the total quantity of waste, the name of the organising committee or a fixed date for the municipal cleaning operation. The next step, according to the zonal in-charge, is the deployment of a team to clean the park.
