Indian Road Congress Summit to Put Telangana Infrastructure in Focus

The 85th Indian Road Congress summit will be held at Hyderabad’s HITEX from November 19 to 22, bringing road engineers, Union ministers and representatives from various states together as Telangana seeks to showcase its infrastructure programme and attract investment attention.

The four-day Indian Road Congress summit is expected to be inaugurated by Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, according to Roads and Buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The state government is making arrangements for the event, which will include a dedicated Telangana Pavilion and around 400 exhibition stalls.

The pavilion is intended to present Telangana’s road and infrastructure projects. The exhibition stalls will highlight the state’s infrastructure achievements, cultural heritage and investment opportunities, giving the government a platform to present its development priorities to delegates from across India.

Venkat Reddy directed officials to include a one-hour cultural programme each day of the summit. He also called for curated heritage tours for delegates and live broadcasts of the proceedings. The proposed programme indicates that the state is planning the summit not only as a technical gathering for the road sector but also as a larger public-facing event linked to Telangana’s image as an infrastructure and investment destination.

The minister reviewed the progress of various road and infrastructure projects in the state while discussing preparations for the summit. The review also covered a number of major health and civic construction projects, including the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospital at Alwal, the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital, Osmania General Hospital, the expansion of NIMS and the new Telangana High Court complex.

Venkat Reddy instructed officials to expedite construction of the TIMS hospital at Alwal and the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital. He directed that both facilities be made operational for public use within this year. The instruction places the two hospitals within a near-term delivery timeline, although the report does not specify their current construction status, remaining works or commissioning schedule.

The review reflects the way large infrastructure events can become checkpoints for a wider government project pipeline. While the road congress itself is focused on the road sector, the minister’s review linked the event preparations with ongoing works across transport, public health and state institutions. The projects named in the review span Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, including Warangal.

For residents, the most immediate public-service implications in the announcement concern the proposed hospitals and the progress of existing institutions. The report does not provide project costs, construction milestones, capacity figures or details of the facilities’ planned services. It also does not state whether any road projects will be inaugurated or commissioned during the summit.

The summit will therefore serve two parallel purposes: a national forum for road and infrastructure professionals and a state platform for presenting Telangana’s projects, investment opportunities and cultural identity. The event is scheduled to run at HITEX from November 19 to 22, with the state government continuing preparations ahead of the opening.
