Hyderabad Research Centre Unveils Green Technology Facilities

Hyderabad has strengthened its research and innovation ecosystem with the inauguration of new scientific facilities focused on sustainable manufacturing, industrial wastewater treatment and advanced chemical processing. The additions are expected to support cleaner industrial technologies while reinforcing the city’s role as a leading centre for scientific research and technology commercialisation.

The CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) has commissioned an effluent treatment plant for textile wastewater, a facility dedicated to continuous processing technologies and a new Sustainable Engineering Complex. The infrastructure is designed to promote research that addresses industrial efficiency, environmental sustainability and the transition towards cleaner manufacturing systems. The expansion reflects growing emphasis on CSIR IICT Hyderabad as a national hub for translating laboratory research into scalable industrial solutions. Research institutions are increasingly working alongside industry, startups and manufacturing enterprises to accelerate technology adoption in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, specialty chemicals and advanced materials. Environmental experts note that wastewater treatment technologies are becoming increasingly important as India’s industrial base expands. Textile manufacturing, in particular, generates large volumes of wastewater that require effective treatment before discharge. The newly established continuous processing facility is also expected to contribute to the development of modern manufacturing techniques.
