The issue matters beyond daily traffic: the corridor connects established residential areas with wider city routes, making reliable movement increasingly important as development intensifies around western Hyderabad.
The road is part of an established transport network serving Manikonda and OU Colony. Public transport route records also identify Marri Chettu and the OU Colony side as regular stops, underlining the corridor’s role in connecting residents with employment, education and other urban services. Residents say congestion becomes particularly severe during morning and evening peak periods. The concern is not simply about longer travel times. Repeated delays can increase fuel use, reduce productivity and make journeys less predictable for workers, students, older people and families relying on time-sensitive travel. The latest mobilisation has also highlighted emergency access. Residents have raised concerns that traffic bottlenecks could delay ambulances and other emergency vehicles. Residents have sought relocation of the facility from the residential area, arguing that vehicles associated with the office contribute to congestion. Urban planners say widening can provide additional capacity, but its effectiveness depends on how the corridor is redesigned. Junction management, pedestrian crossings, drainage, regulated parking and public transport access should be considered alongside any widening proposal. Otherwise, additional road space can simply shift congestion to the next bottleneck.
