Hyderabad Kottayam Special Trains Announced For Onam
Hyderabad: South Central Railway will operate special services between Charlapalli and Kottayam on select August dates to manage the expected rise in passenger demand during the Onam festival. The additional trains will provide another rail option for travellers from Hyderabad and several cities along the route during the busy festive period.
Train 07197 from Charlapalli to Kottayam will run on August 16, 23 and 30. It will leave Charlapalli at 7.15 am and reach Kottayam at 12.25 pm the following day. The return service, Train 07198, will operate from Kottayam to Charlapalli on August 17, 24 and 31. It will depart at 4.45 pm and arrive at Charlapalli at 12.30 am the next day. The Hyderabad Onam special trains are expected to help accommodate additional passengers travelling during one of Kerala’s major festivals. Onam typically generates increased movement between Kerala and other parts of the country as families, workers and students travel home. The service will connect Charlapalli with several important stations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Stops include Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Guntur, Tenali, Bapatla, Chirala, Ongole and Nellore. The route will continue through Renigunta, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Podanur before reaching Kerala. Passengers will also have access to stations including Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva and Ernakulam Town.
The train will include 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper and General Second Class coaches, offering different travel options across fare categories. For Hyderabad, the additional service has significance beyond festival travel. Seasonal trains can help distribute passenger demand when regular services face higher occupancy. They can also provide an alternative to road travel during periods when intercity transport demand rises sharply.
