Hyderabad weather remained unusually hot for October on Saturday, with temperatures crossing 35 degrees Celsius across several parts of the city as Telangana continued to receive little or no rain. The highest temperature in the State was 37 degrees Celsius in Jogulamba Gadwal, while Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 35.1 degrees Celsius at BHEL and Falaknuma, according to data collated by the Telangana Development Planning Society.
Across Telangana, daytime temperatures stayed around 36 degrees Celsius or higher in several districts. Mahbubnagar, Warangal, Mancherial and Jagityal recorded 36.9 degrees Celsius, while Khammam also reached 36.9 degrees Celsius. The readings indicate that the unusual warmth was spread across the State rather than confined to Hyderabad.
Within Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, BHEL and Ameenpur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.1 degrees Celsius. Keesara, Malkajgiri and Nacharam recorded 35 degrees Celsius, while Malakpet and Mehdipatnam were also among the warmer locations listed in the city. Temperatures across Hyderabad and its surroundings remained above 34 degrees Celsius.
The elevated readings came as a series of forecasts indicating the possibility of rain did not result in widespread showers. The absence of rain has allowed daytime temperatures to remain high, extending hot and humid conditions for residents during a period when the city would ordinarily expect a different monsoon-season pattern, according to the report.
The India Meteorological Department’s Hyderabad forecast indicated dry weather across Telangana on Sunday. Light to moderate rain may occur at one or two isolated places on Monday, but the forecast does not indicate widespread rainfall. For Hyderabad and neighbouring areas, partly cloudy skies and hazy morning conditions are expected over the next 48 hours.
The maximum temperature in Hyderabad and nearby areas is forecast to remain around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be about 23 degrees Celsius. The next forecast update and the possibility of isolated rain on Monday will determine whether the current dry spell eases in parts of the State.
