Hyderabad Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat Train To Start October 2
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad is set to gain a new direct rail connection with Gorakhpur as the Amrit Bharat Express between Churlapally and Gorakhpur is scheduled to begin operations in October. The new weekly service will provide a direct option for passengers travelling between Hyderabad and several important cities across Uttar Pradesh and central India.
The train will operate as a weekly service, with the Churlapally–Gorakhpur service beginning on October 2 and the return journey from Gorakhpur starting on October 4. The service has been approved initially on a trial basis, with the possibility of additional trips if passenger demand increases. For Hyderabad, the connection is particularly important because it creates a direct rail option towards eastern Uttar Pradesh. Passengers from the city will also gain access to several intermediate destinations without having to depend on multiple train connections. The new service will connect Churlapally with Gorakhpur through a long-distance route covering several major railway stations. From the Hyderabad side, the train will serve Churlapally before travelling through Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Key stops include Kazipet, Balharshah, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Betul, Itarsi, Bhopal, Bina and Jhansi. In Uttar Pradesh, the train will serve stations including Orai, Kanpur Central, Aishbagh, Lucknow City, Gomti Nagar, Barabanki and Gonda before reaching Gorakhpur. This route could benefit students, workers, families and other passengers who regularly travel between Hyderabad and northern India. It also strengthens Churlapally’s role in Hyderabad’s wider railway network. The Hyderabad Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat train will have 22 coaches and a reported passenger capacity of around 1,834. The Amrit Bharat service is designed primarily for affordable long-distance travel and uses non-AC coaches. The train is planned for speeds of up to 130 kmph. Passenger facilities include CCTV surveillance, talk-back communication systems, bio-toilets and improved seating.
The Churlapally–Gorakhpur service will depart Churlapally at 9.45 pm on Fridays and reach Gorakhpur at 6.25 am on the third day. In the opposite direction, the Gorakhpur–Churlapally service will leave on Sundays at around 8.30 am and arrive at Churlapally at 5 pm on the second day. The Hyderabad Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat train could improve mobility between southern and northern India by providing a direct weekly service across a wide geographic corridor. Its initial frequency also leaves room for the railway authorities to assess demand before expanding operations. If the service consistently attracts passengers, more weekly trips could improve convenience and reduce dependence on connecting trains. For Hyderabad, the development adds another long-distance service to the growing network around Churlapally. Its success will ultimately depend on punctuality, passenger demand, convenient scheduling and the ability to increase frequency when required.
