The inspection also covered road stretches and transport infrastructure where rainfall had earlier disrupted traffic movement. Officials identified sediment accumulation inside a major box drain carrying stormwater towards the lake, reducing its hydraulic capacity. Instructions were issued to expedite desilting operations and ensure connecting drainage channels are cleared to maintain uninterrupted water flow. Urban engineers note that even partial blockages can significantly reduce drainage efficiency during intense rainfall, increasing the likelihood of surface flooding in densely built neighbourhoods. The inspection also extended to an underpass that recently experienced rainwater accumulation. Technical assessments indicated that the disruption resulted from the failure of automated pumping equipment rather than inadequate drainage capacity alone. Authorities have directed immediate repairs and instructed emergency response teams to position high-capacity mobile pumps nearby to ensure rapid water removal if similar situations arise during future downpours.
