Hisar Railway Station Stabbing Leaves Teen Dead, 3 Injured

An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death and three others were injured after an altercation involving passengers at Hisar railway station in Haryana, police said. The attack took place on the station’s foot overbridge on Friday as the group was moving to catch a connecting train to Sirsa.

The deceased was identified as Karan, a resident of Jodhka village in Sirsa district. He had been returning from Salasar to Hisar by train with around 25 companions when a dispute broke out between his group and other passengers during the journey, according to the police account reported by the Times of India.

The exact reason for the altercation has not been established. After the group reached the station and headed towards the foot overbridge to board a connecting train to Sirsa, unidentified assailants allegedly waylaid them and attacked them with sharp-edged weapons.

Karan suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. Three other youths travelling with him were also injured in the assault. The attackers fled from the spot after the incident, police said.

Government Railway Police teams reached the station after receiving information about the attack and cordoned off the area. The railway foot overbridge, which links parts of the station for passenger movement, became the immediate focus of the police response.

The GRP is examining CCTV footage from the station to identify the assailants and determine how the confrontation developed. The identities of the other passengers involved in the dispute and the precise sequence of events remain under investigation.

The incident highlights the role of railway stations as high-footfall public spaces where passenger movement, connecting trains and platform access converge. In this case, the reported attack occurred not inside a train but while the group was moving through a station circulation area to catch another service.

Police have not yet announced arrests or disclosed whether the injured youths remain under treatment. Further details are expected after investigators review the CCTV recordings and establish the identities of those involved.
