The Pune administration has ordered officials to accelerate land acquisition, transferable development rights (TDR) processing and tender procedures for six proposed development plan (DP) roads in the Hinjewadi-Man-Marunji area, with construction targeted to begin in December. The move is aimed at addressing worsening traffic congestion and infrastructure pressures around the region’s industrial and residential growth.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi issued the directions during a meeting held at the district collectorate to review traffic congestion, civic amenities and infrastructure in Hinjewadi-Man-Marunji. Officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Public Works Department, police and municipal bodies attended the meeting.
The administration has asked officials to complete the land acquisition process for all six DP roads at the earliest and finish the related TDR procedure within one month. Landowners’ consent is to be secured as part of the process. Farmers have agreed to provide land through floor space index benefits for two of the roads, allowing those projects to be taken up in the first phase. Separate meetings will be held with landowners for the remaining roads.
Dudi directed the concerned chief engineers and land acquisition officers to coordinate and complete the TDR process within the stipulated period. Departments have also been instructed to prepare estimates, proposals and tenders quickly and complete the administrative approvals required to begin physical work in December.
The meeting also reviewed storm-water drainage, junction upgrades and other infrastructure improvements in Hinjewadi. Funding has been approved for these works, and departments have been asked to complete the preparatory processes without delay. The directions come as the area continues to absorb a growing population and expanding industrial activity, placing pressure on roads, public transport connections, water supply, electricity and waste management.
Improving links to public transport was another focus of the meeting. Officials discussed developing approach roads and transport facilities to metro stations serving the wider area, including connections towards Baner, Balewadi and the Hinjewadi Phase 2 and Phase 3 stations. The source report does not specify the length, alignment or individual cost of the six DP roads.
The administration also directed that six acres be transferred to the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company for a proposed electricity substation, with the administrative process to be completed in view of future power demand in the area.
For water planning, the Maharashtra Jeevan Authority has been asked to prepare a detailed presentation on planning for two thousand million cubic feet of water. The assessment is expected to cover available sources, current supply and future demand. On solid waste, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been instructed to collect waste from villages in the area and dispose of it according to regulations, with the required agreements to be signed with the concerned gram panchayats.
The next milestones identified by the administration are the completion of land and TDR procedures within a month, followed by tendering, administrative approvals and the targeted start of road works in December.
