Eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP) is finally experiencing relief from scorching temperatures, thanks to the influence of a western disturbance (WD) and easterly winds. According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions have completely abated in eastern UP as of Friday. However, parts of western UP, such as Orai, continue to grapple with persistent heatwave conditions.
Meteorological officials anticipate that as the impact of the western disturbance diminishes in the coming days, temperatures in western UP will rise again. Heatwave conditions are likely to persist in these areas until June 24. Meanwhile, favourable conditions are expected to facilitate the onset of the monsoon in eastern UP over the next two to three days. For Lucknow specifically, the Meteorological Department has forecasted light rain starting from June 23, with intensifying showers anticipated from June 24 onwards. This shift in weather patterns signifies a welcome change for residents and agriculture alike, as the region prepares for the monsoon’s arrival. The alleviation of the heatwave in eastern UP underscores the transient nature of weather systems influenced by western disturbances and seasonal wind patterns. As the monsoon advances, it promises to bring much-needed relief from the prolonged heat and support agricultural activities across the region.
