Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Jagadish G has directed officials to complete arrangements for the safe and smooth immersion of Ganesh idols at Halasuru Lake. The instructions include crowd-control measures, traffic regulation and steps to prevent waste from entering the lake.

Officials have been asked to install adequate barricades at the immersion area so that the process can take place without inconvenience to the public. The civic body will also coordinate with the police department to maintain law and order, prevent overcrowding and regulate vehicular movement around the lake.

The directions also include clearing debris and cleaning the stormwater drain leading to Halasuru Lake. Mesh screens are to be installed at rainwater entry points to prevent garbage, plastic and other waste from flowing into the waterbody.

As part of the lake-related works, officials have been instructed to develop a wetland to improve water quality and create a suitable environment for aquatic life. The civic body has also directed officials to complete ongoing works, including the walkers’ pathway and installation of grills, within the stipulated timeframe.

The facilities are to be made available to the public after the works are completed. The measures are intended to support the festival-related immersion process while maintaining access around the lake and limiting the impact of debris and solid waste on the stormwater system and waterbody.
